Morocco Tour Itinerary*:
Day 1 - Casablanca
Hotel Idou Anfa – Dinner
After leaving the airport we take a private transfer to the whitewashed city of Casablanca. It’s the largest city in Morocco with a definite contrast of old meets new.
Art deco buildings blend with towering skyscrapers and the shimmering Atlantic Ocean glistens to one side. Take a stroll through the colourful old medina markets or wander along the oceanfront corniche, or simply watch the world go by whilst sipping fresh mint tea in a nearby café.
When the evening draws in, it’s time to meet your fellow voyageurs and have a delicious home cooked dinner at a local Moroccan house.
Day 2 - Rabat
Hotel Belere – Breakfast
Morocco is a country where multiple religions have co-existed side by side for centuries.
This morning we’re exploring some of Casablanca’s holiest sites including the Hassan 11 Mosque, Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and the Jewish Museum and what impact this has had on the women in Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
This afternoon we travel to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, the first imperial city and walk around the lovely walled quarter known as the Kasbah des Oudaias.
The evening is free for you to soak in this hypnotic atmosphere.
Day 3 - Chefchaouen
Riad Hicham – Breakfast
Today we’re exploring the blue city of Chefchaouen, one of the prettiest places in Morocco and an absolute photographers dream.
Nestled between two peaks in the stunning Rif mountains, you’ll find the impessive medina with its azure blue walls , white washed houses and artistic doorways. Rebuilt by Andalusian refugees escaping the Reconquistia, still with it’s Spanish influence, stroll through the cobbled streets, discover secret archways, colourful shops, henna tattoo parlours or head to a cafe for some mint tea and a few local delicacies.
After your orientation walk, feel free to explore some more in indulge in on of the hammam spas.
Day 4 - Chefchaouen
Riad Hicham – Breakfast & Lunch
Today we’re going off the beaten track to Akchour, situated in the Rif mountains. this region is know as a place where many women get involved in the local farming activities wearing a distinct dress code of colourful hats and long flowing skirts.
Our hike will take us to the stunning Akchour waterfalls where we’ll stop for a dip and a picnic lunch.
The evening is free for you to enjoy the beauty of Chefchaouen with your new found friends.
Day 5 - Fes
Riad Salam – Breakfast & Lunch
Prepare for sensory overload today as we head for the colourful and vibrant city of Fes. Our first stop is the ruins of Volubiliis to admire the pillars and archways of this former Roman capital and the beautifully preserved mosaics along the Decumanus Maximus.
Then onto the sacred pilgrimage village of Moulay Idriss for lunch before you arrive in the energetic city of Fez and check into your luxurious Riad.
Tonight we enjoy one of the city’s signature dishes, Pastille which is essentially filo pastry stuffed with chicken, almonds, onions and covered with a sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar (veggie options are available, too) in a local traditional restaurant.
The evening is free for you to enjoy the beauty of Chefchaouen with your new found friends.
Day 6 - Fes
Riad Salam – Breakfast
Ready to embrace city life? Fes is the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. It’s vibrant, noisy, fascinating and a visual pungent feast for the senses.
This morning we’re going on a history packed walk-a-bout for a tour of the old medina, known locally as Fes el Bali. Walking through the maze of streets, you’ll pass by talented artisans, snake charmers, hear echoing mosques and see tiled archways and sand-coloured rooftops in every direction you look.
We’ll explore what was once one of the world’s great centres of education and culture, both Islamic and Jewish, the Royal Palace and visit the stunning architecture of Medressa el Attarine and not forgetting Fes’s famous Chaouwara Tannery with its iconic veiws overlooking the colourful dye pits.
Finish this exhilarating day putting your feet up or relaxing in the spa at the hotel.
Day 7 - Erfoud
Hotel Xaluca Erfoud – Breakfast & Dinner
Today we bid our farewells to this dynamic city for the simplicity of the scenic Atlas Mountains, to Erfoudk a city known as ‘The Door To The Desert’.
Our long drive south takes us through some spectacular scenery, fertile green valleys, lush cedar and pine forests to barren and rocky landscapes and later to the flat desert.
On route we stop off at Ifrane for lunch, known as the Switzerland of Morocco because of its neat European styled red roofed houses, blooming flowerbeds, lake studded parks and snowbound winters.
It’s also around 5,456 feet above sea level so the views are spectacular!
Once we reach Erfoud the rest of the evening is yours to spend relax, take a spa treatment or drink some mint tea with your fellow voyageurs.
Day 8 - Merzouga
Merzouga Desert Luxury Camp – Breakfast & Dinner
Wake up to luxurious surroundings and spend the morning relaxing before we hop on some 4 x 4’s to take us first to Rissani for a Madfouna lunch (bread stuffed with meat, vegetables, spices and local herb – vegetarian option available) and then to Khemlia Village to listen to some local music known as Gnawa.
This afternoon we’re travelling deep into the desert to the spectacular beauty of the burnt orange coloured Erg Chebbi sand dunes rolling out fo miles, you’ll feel wonderfully isolated as thought the modern world has been left behind.
Tonight we are camping out in boutique tents which resemble something from a movie set, with soft candle lights which seem to dance in the moonlight.
This evening, a delicious dinner is made by private chef as we eat around an open fire with live music and dancing underneath the stars.
Day 9 - Dades
An early start awaits, but how many times have you witnessed a spectacular sunrise whilst riding on the back of a camel?
After returning and eating a nomadic breakfast, we leave for the Dades Valley which is famous for having one of the largest oases in Morocco.
On the way we stop off at a preserved Ksar where you can see the handy work of the local women, then onto Todra Gorge, a massive trench that rises as high as 250 metres to form one of the most dramatic natural sights in Morocco.
The limestone stacks make a perfect area for some trekking.
Then it’s off to our gorgeous hotel for dinner which is situated amongst the valleys and the mountains.
Day 10 - Ait Benhaddou
Leaving the Dades Valley, we set off on the fabled “Road of 1000 Kasbahs’.
Along the way we’ll stop at Skouras Oasis, a scenic palm grove scattered with privately owned kasbahs. We’ll also visit the Kasbah Amridil, a 17th century fortress with its mud brick defensive walls. On to the fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, which dates back to the 11th century.
This clay architecture city comes with a long list of film credentials, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones and Gladiator. Walking in the footsteps of Hollywood greats, we wander through the winding streets of the old town, making our way to the top of the hill for some amazing panoramic views across the surrounding plains.
From here, we’ll carry on to our hotel, where you can watch the sun setting over the magical kasbah from your roof terrace.
Day 11 - Marrakech
Today we embrace the exotic sights of Marrakech. Driving for 5 hours through the winding Atlas roads to reach this ancient and exotic city steeped in rich history and unique culture.
This evening we explore the old medina, weaving our way through the colourful souks, past cobras in baskets and endless beating drums until we arrive for dinner and our own unique henna ceremony.
Henna tattooing is one of the oldest celebrations between Moroccan women, and you will not only learn about the origins of this cosmetic product but you will be treated to a tattoo on either your hands or feet.
Day 12 - Marrakech
Today we are joining one of the very few local women guides for a cooking class at La Maison Arabe where we will learn how to make a deliciously authentic Moroccan dish…and of course we will be able to tuck in to our hard earned efforts whilst drink chatting and washing it all down with some mint tea.
The afternoon is free to wander or relax by the pool.
Day 13 - Marrakech
Lets get pampered!
This morning enjoy a purifying body ritual. Hammam with moroccan black soap, exfoliation and an argan oil body milk moisturising treatment…Heaven!
The rest of the afternoon is for you to relax until you get ready to join your new best friends for a farewell Morocco dinner.
Time to eat, drink and reflect on your amazing experiences until late into the evening.
Day 14 - Marrakech Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to this incredible two weeks full to the brim experience.
You’ve done so much and made some life long friends, but now your group transfer awaits to take you back to the airport.
