After we’ve worked our legs, we’ll stop to rest in a quaint fishing seaside village, then onwards to the bohemian district of Barranco, a lively a vibrant area full of artists, musicians, and writers.

Then onwards along the coastline until we reach ‘Love Park’, reminiscent of Gaudi’s work and dedicated to all things love and lovers with its romance-inspired statues and sculptures and dreamy like atmosphere.

The rest of the afternoon is free to explore, have some lunch with your girlfriends or go back to the hotel to relax.

Day 3 - Lima
For Peruvians, sharing cuisine represents more than just eating — it stands for knowledge, tradition, home life, community and, fun. Today we share a unique experience with our teacher and chef, Doña Mechita who shows us how to prepare a classic ceviche, Peru’s national dish.

Our first stop is the local food market, a definite feast for the senses with its vast variety of colourful fruits, vegetables and fiery spices. With purchases in hand, we’ll take the city bus to Chorrillos a residential neighbourhood south of Lima to Doña Mechita’s home where she’ll share her family recipes and traditions then have us whipping up a classic ceviche in no time.

A ceviche, Peru’s national dish, is made with fresh fish and a mixture of limes, onions, coriander, and a few other secret ingredients. We’ll prepare a chicha morada, a purple corn drink believed to have beneficial healing properties, causa limeña a dish made with potatoes, chilies, and limes and not forgetting the famous pisco sour, using her secret homemade recipe.

Day 4 - Cusco
It’s an early start as we take a short flight to Cusco, a charismatic city steeped in Incan history, tradition and legends.

We spend some time acclimatising to the high altitude (3450 metres above sea level), a great introduction to the environment we’ll face in the days ahead, and then head out on a walking tour of the city’s main highlights spread over a maze of Inca stonework.

We’ll walk through Hatun Rumilloc Street, famous for the stone of twelve angles, the Coricancha Temple, once plated in thick gold, San Pedro market and the Plaza de Armas in the heart of the city where we’ll see the main cathedral built on top of an Incan palace and one of the city’s greatest repositories of art.

Hotel: Casa Andina

Meals: Breakfast

Day 5 - Sacred Valley
This morning we travel by our private bus through the lush green Sacred Valley on the outskirts of Cusco, known as Wilcamayo by the Incas because of its climate, fertile lands and the Urubamba (Sacred) River.

We’ll visit the Sacsayhuaman fortress where the views are not only breathtaking but you’ll see how the massive stone blocks that form the walls of this site give an impressive picture of how greatly developed Inca engineering was.

Ollantaytambo is our next stop which was built over an ancient Inca town and is the best surviving example of Inca city planning, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the 13th century. It’s perfect for wandering the maze of narrow byways, past stone buildings and the irrigation channels, pretending you’ve stepped back in time, and the ideal warm up for our Machu Picchu visit tomorrow.

Late afternoon head to the hotel in Sacred Valley and relax for night as we have an early start tomorrow.

Hotel: Sonesta Posada Del Inca Yucay

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

Day 6 - Machu Picchu
An early start and a full day bucket list day ahead as we take the winding road from Aguas Calientes up to the lost city of Machu Picchu.

Looking at Machu Picchu for the first time, as it sits against a backdrop of forested mountains, is a truly breathtaking experience and no matter how many photos you’ve seen, it is hard to prepare for its awesome beauty. The true purpose behind Machu Picchu may always be a mystery, since no historical records of the complex exist and in fact, none were actually made, as the Incas had no written language. Some historians have thought it was a place of spiritual worship, others, a military fortress, and some even think it was a prison. Most archaeologists, however, believe it to be the 15th- century headquarters of Emperor Pachacuti.

After our guided tour, you’ll have some free time to wander around and take in the magnitude of the stunning scenery.

Later, we’ll descend back down to Aguas Calientes and hop on the train to Cusco for dinner at the hotel…and maybe a few Pisco Sours to toast this memorable day.

Hotel: El Mapi

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 7 - Cusco
After breakfast we take the train back to Ollantytambo where our private transport to Cusco awaits.

Our first stop is the small town of Maras known for its salt mines and where thousands of individual salt pools are set into the surrounding hillside that date back to Incan times, an amazing site to look at and a definite photo moment.

The town itself is also used as a through route to the town of Moray, our next stop, an Inca archaeological site on a high plateau with its many tiers of concentric terraces and views of the snow-capped Urubamba mountain range.

We’ll have a guided tour of each of these towns before returning to the adorable town of Cusco. Amble around the ancient stone streets and Andean baroque buildings, as you seek out a good restaurant for tonight. Cusco is brimming with world-class eateries, many of which have beautiful balconies looking out onto the charming city.

Hotel: Casa Andina

Meals: Breakfast

Day 8 - Cusco
Another early start as we head to back to The Sacred Valley to Chincheros where Piuray Lake is located. Surrounded by mountains, this beautiful lake offers a backdrop of spectacular scenery, the perfect place for our morning of adventure.

We start with a safety briefing and introduction to paddle techniques on land and then take to the waters to practice our new skills on the lake, which is the perfect place to paddle board as it has no current or waves and no high winds!

After a hot drink and some snacks, we have some time to relax and enjoy the spectacular views before we return to the hotel and the rest of the day is yours to enjoy exploring this mesmerising town.

Hotel: Casa Andina

Meals: Breakfast

Day 9 - Rainbow Mountain
By now we’re used to early starts and this is one you don’t want to miss as we trek to see the famous Rainbow Mountain.

Our first stop is Paucarpata where we can freshen up, have a bite to eat before we hop back on the bus to the start of our trek.

Phulawasipata (4600 meters above sea level) is where we start the trek starts. We walk uphill to get to Vinicunca (5000 meters above sea level) and prepare to be amazed by the views of Rainbow Mountain.

The colours are spectacular, some are terracotta, some lavender, others are a vibrant turquoise. They’re coloured by the sediment and atmosphere of the area, unique because of its altitude and isolation close to the ocean. Such a stunning site that you have to see to believe.
.
After our walk back down, we take the bus back to Cusco stopping on the way for a well deserved lunch.

Hotel: Casa Andina

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch

There’s time to freshen up and enjoy a delicious organic lunch before we discover the secrets of the rainforest, from tropical trees, medicinal plants to exotic butterflies.
