Sri Lanka Tour Itinerary*:
Day 1 - Negobo
This amazing adventure begins as soon as you touch down at Colombo International Airport.
You’ll be met in traditional Sri Lankan style with an Ayubowan (May you live long) greeting. We’ll be met by our private transfer to whisk you off to your hotel in Negombo, a beautiful retreat on the tranquil shores of a lagoon. Spend your afternoon relaxing by the pool, take a walk along the pristine beach or try an Ayurveda healing session.
At 6pm after a welcome meeting we’ll venture out through the colourful quirky shops and lively crowds for a traditional Sri Lankan meal.

Day 2 - Sigiriya
As a sustainable community programme, this has given so many opportunities to local women to build their domestic income.
Our next stop is at a local vegetable cultivation where we can experience a typical day on the farm and chat to the local families and whilst enjoying a home cooked lunch with vegetables we help collect.
Onwards to our amazing hotel for the next 3 nights to relax, swim, pamper to your hearts delight.

Day 3 - Sigiriya
This afternoon is a nature lovers dream as we head to Minneriya to enjoy a jeep safari and get the chance to observe the unique and amazing wild animals in their natural habitants. If we’re lucky enough, we’ll spot monkeys, leopards, sloth bear, sambar deer, elephants gathering and many varieties of colourful water birds. This is undoubtedly an afternoon you won’t forget.
Your evening is at leisure but your hotel does have one of the best Spas in the country if you feel the urge to be pampered!

Day 4 - Sigiriya
The rest of the day is then yours to relax or explore with you fellow Voyage girlfriends.

Day 5 - Wasgamuwa
After breakfast we travel to Wasgamuwa, check into our hotel and head to the Wasgamuwa community project where we learn to identify individual elephants and appreciate the various ecological systems in the project area. Each day at the centre is different and we wont know what we’ll be doing until the actual day, and could be anything from watching the elephants from a tree-house, tank monitoring (where the elephants bathe), trail transects (a hike to identify if elephants have been in the area) or you could be helping to reduce human-elephant conflict within the national park.
Early evening we’ll return to the hotel to freshen up, relax over dinner and chat about the days activities, before we go back to the centre to experience the jungle at night time. In our tree houses we’ll have an excellent opportunity to witness elephants feeding and listen to them socialising with each other. An incredible experience!

Day 6 - Kandy
Then it’s onward to the sacred city of Kandy. As the former capital city and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, this city holds an aura of grandeur, and its colonial influences still remain.
With an evening at leisure, why not explore its vibrant array of shops, listen to the energetic beating drums and visit the ornate temples. If you have time, definitely visit the Temple of the Tooth one of Sri Lank’s most sacred shines.
And don’t miss a chance to taste of Kandy’s famous street food – watch a chef transform a ball of dough into a sheet wafer thin sheet, skilfully slice , griddle and mix with vegetables and spices to create a Kotthu Roti…so tasty!

Day 7 - Nuwara Eliya
Once we arrive, you’ll soon see why Nuwara Eliya is known as “Little England” with its cottages, rolling hills and a cooler breeze.
This afternoon we experience the Sri Lankan tea culture with a full on tour of the Ceylon Tea plantation followed by a very indulgent English high tea with all the trimmings.
The evening is yours to enjoy the lush surroundings around the hotel.

Day 8 - Bandarawela
This evening is at leisure but there is a cozy pub inside the hotel that’s quite the favourite evening hangout.

Day 9 - Udawalwe
Soak in the spectacular scenery as you walk along the tracks and then enjoy a short hike to Little Adam’s Peak, the beautiful mountains surrounding the laid back town of Ella.
It’s here you’ll find the Ravana Falls, a 3 tier cascading waterfall that gushes down the rock face creating rock pools along its path.
Arriving at our hotel, the rest of the evening is yours to relax or explore.

Day 10 - Mirisssa
This afternoon we get to a little closer as we jump aboard our jeeps to take us on safari. Udawalwe National Park is home to over 500 wild Asian elephants which can roam in herds of up to 100, and although elephants are the main attraction, you can also get to see water buffalo, wild boar, mongooses and even some leopards if we’re really lucky.
After our amazing day, we travel to Mirissa stopping for a well deserving dinner on the way.

Day 11 - Mirisssa
After arriving at our hotel, the rest of the evening is free for you to relax in your serene hideaway with your Voyage girlfriends.

Day 12 - Mirisssa
This evening we we go to Galle and take a tour of the Royal Dutch Fort with its blend of European architecture and South Asian traditions.
We explore the winding passageways, the maze of gallery-filled narrow streets with 400 years of rich history.
After enjoying the sunset from the fort, we go to a traditional restaurant for dinner to celebrate the amazing adventure you and your fellow Voyage girlfriends have experienced together.

Day 13 - Departure
You’ve visited local communities, had a sunrise trek to an ancient fortress, cycled around archaeological sites, seen elephants in their natural habitant, visited tea plantations, been on jeep safaris and relaxed on one of the most tranquil beaches Sri Lanka has to offer.
What a magical experience this has been in the pearl of the Indian Ocean.
